1. Acceptance

By using this service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. The Service

Selectic is a free movie and TV show discovery app. You can filter, compare, and share titles with friends. No subscription or payment is required.

3. Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. You may delete your account at any time from Profile settings, which permanently removes all your data.

4. User-Generated Content

You may set a display name and upload a profile avatar. By providing this content, you represent that:

• You own the content or have the right to use it
• The content does not infringe any third party's rights
• The content is not obscene, offensive, hateful, discriminatory, threatening, or otherwise objectionable
• The content does not impersonate another person or entity
• The content does not contain nudity, sexually explicit material, or graphic violence

Your display name, avatar, and public profile are visible to other Selectic users. Shared comparisons are visible to anyone with the link.

5. Content Moderation, Reporting & Blocking

Users can report inappropriate display names and avatars directly from any profile. We review all reports and may take the following actions without prior notice:

• Reset your avatar to the default
• Reset your display name
• Dismiss the report if no violation is found

You can also block any user from their profile. Blocking a user will:

• Remove them from your friends list and remove you from theirs
• Hide their activity from your feed
• Prevent them from viewing your profile and activity
• Prevent either of you from following the other

You can unblock a user at any time from their profile. Repeated violations may result in account suspension or termination. Filing false or abusive reports is itself a violation of these terms.

6. Prohibited Use

You may not:

• Use the service for illegal activities or to facilitate harm
• Harass, bully, or threaten other users
• Upload content that is obscene, hateful, discriminatory, or sexually explicit
• Impersonate other people or entities
• Attempt to circumvent safety or moderation measures
• Use automated tools to scrape or abuse the service
• File false or malicious reports against other users

7. AI-Powered Features

Selectic uses OpenAI to generate search recommendations and movie/TV show comparisons. By using the service, you consent to your search queries, selected titles, and taste profile data being sent to OpenAI for processing. OpenAI does not use your data for their own model training. See our Privacy Policy for details.

8. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, including but not limited to repeated content violations or abusive behavior toward other users.

9. Disclaimer

The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not responsible for the accuracy of AI-generated comparisons or third-party movie metadata.
